Regions and Localization

TeamConnect provides options that let you customize system and custom data for multiple languages and regions. Localized areas include the user interface, and features such as the time and date display. You can localize one or more languages and character sets. Localization key values have been updated in TeamConnect 5.0. Detail on these updates can be found in the online help on the Localization Key Changes page. TeamConnect provides the following options to help you localize data:

  • The Admin Settings Region page—Lets you select a default locale, and select the way that you want to display the system date, time zone, and year. You can also select your local currency type on this page.
  • Locale Manager tool—Lets you select, change, and delete one or more locales. Additionally, you can export TeamConnect messages and user interface fields to an Excel spreadsheet, enter translations, and then upload the translated date back into TeamConnect. This process allows international users to view information in their preferred language.

Region Settings

You can configure the following from the Region page:

  • Default locale information—The system default locale and how it is applied to individual end users.
  • System date format—Choose the default date format for users.
  • System time zone and format—Choose the default time zone and time format for users.
  • Two-digit year threshold—Choose a Year marker that differentiates when two-digit dates are considered 20th century versus 21st century.
  • Default currency—Choose a system currency.

Setting Regional Settings

Use the Admin Settings Region page to set your default locale, date and time formats, year threshold, and default currency.

Once you update and save settings on the Region page, the changes are visible to users immediately.

To set regional settings

  1. Click the All button.
  2. Click Admin Settings under the dropdown bar.
  3. In the left pane, click the Region link.
  4. Select or edit the fields based on descriptions in the Admin Settings - Region Page field table below.
  5. Click Update.

Locale

  • Default Locale—Select the default locale that controls the language used in the TeamConnect session, as well as the country format options for dates, times and numbers. You can add or remove locale choices for this drop-down list by running the Locale Manager tool. See Working with Locales. Default Locale: English - United States
    Note: A change in default locale will force a page refresh, and will change the values of Date Format and Time Format to values consistent with the new locale.
  • Default users to their browser locale if user locale not set—Set how the system default locale is applied.
    • If the end user has set a locale in their own Preferences page, that locale will be used during their TeamConnect session.
    • If the end user has not set a locale preference, and this check-box is selected, the locale associated with the user's web browser will be used during their TeamConnect session.
    • If the end user has not set a locale preference, and this check-box is not selected, the system default locale will be used during their TeamConnect session.
    • Default to browser locale: unselected

Date Formats

  • Edit mode date format—Selecting one of the following (where mm is month, dd is day, and yyyy is year):
    • mm/dd/yyyy—For example, 12/25/2000 is December 25, 2000 (default); or
    • yyyy-mm-dd—For example, 2000-12-25
  • Read-only mode date format--Select one of the following (where mm is month, dd is day, and yyyy is year):
    Note: Year values are always displayed in 4 digits.
    • mm/dd/yy (default)—For example, 12/25/05 is December 25, 2000; or
      Note: In edit-mode, this date will display with the year in 4-digit format (mm/dd/yyyy)
    • Month dd, yyyy (abbreviated)—For example, Dec. 25, 2000; or
    • Month dd, yyyy—For example, December 25, 2000; or
    • Day, Month dd, yyyy—For example, Sunday, December 25, 2000; or
    • yyyy-mm-dd—For example, 2000-12-25
      Note: These values are based on the default locale, and may be overridden at runtime if the end user has selected a different locale in their Preferences.

Time Formats

  • Edit mode time format—Select one of the following:
    • HH:MM AM/PM (default)—Where HH is hour, MM is minutes. For example, 05:10 PM; or
    • Military time—For example, 17:10.
  • Read-only mode time format—Select one of the following:
    • HH:MM AM/PM (default)—Where HH is hour, MM is minutes. For example, 05:10 PM; or
    • Military time—For example, 17:10.
    • Time Zone—Click the drop-down list to change the system Time Zone. Default is Greenwich Mean Time.
      These values are based on the default locale, and may be overridden at runtime if the end user has selected a different locale in their Preferences.

Year Threshold

Two-digit Year Threshold—Type a two-digit year value for the system to interpret which two-digit year values fall in the 20th century or 21st century. Default is 25.

For example, a threshold of 25 would mean that values from 00 to 25 are interpreted as 21st century dates (2000 to 2025). Consequently, values from 26 to 99 are interpreted as 20th century dates (1926 to 1999).

Multi- currency

Default Currency—Select the local currency. Default is United States, Dollars. The options within the list are set through the Designer application area.
