Rights for Solution Developers

Rights for Solution Developers
This appendix includes reference tables that outline the rights solution developers require to access specific areas of TeamConnect. These rights are assigned from a group record's Record Rights page and appear as selectable options in the View drop-down list. The tables help administrators ensure the correct permissions are granted for development and configuration tasks.

This appendix provides reference tables for assigning rights to TeamConnect areas that solution developers need to access. From a group record's Record Rights page, the rights described in this appendix are a subset of options from the View drop-down list.

TeamConnect areas or features for solution developers include:

  • Administer Custom Tools - Page that allows management of custom tools.
  • Global Navigation - Page that allows customization of the global navigation toolbar and subnavigation links (displayed under a toolbar tab).
  • Home Pages - Page that allows management and customization of home pages or the initial page in TeamConnect after logging in.
  • Lookup Tables -  Page that allows management and customization of system lookup tables in TeamConnect.
  • Custom Lookup Tables - Page that allows management and customization of custom lookup tables in TeamConnect.
  • Multi-currency Lookup Table -  Page that allows management and customization of the multi-currency lookup table in TeamConnect.
  • Miscellaneous Settings - Page that allows management of custom fields that should be considered part of a user's system preferences. Custom fields added to the Designer application, Miscellaneous Settings page correspond to fields that display on a user's Preferences area, Other Settings page.
  • Object Definitions -  Area that allows management of system and custom object definitions (record types).
  • Portal Panes -  Area that allows management and customization of applets that are available for user home pages. Portal Panes can be information-driven, for example, containing TeamConnect search views or RSS feeds. In addition, Portal Panes can be functionality-driven, for example, containing links to frequently used areas, such as workflow approval or record creation wizards.
  • Routes -  Area that allows management and customization of the part of a workflow approval rule where approvers, reviewers, process managers, and email notifications are defined.
  • Route Stops -  Page that allows management of route stops (required approvers)
  • System Settings -  From the Designer application, these are TeamConnect system settings that apply to all users. These rights also allow access to manage system appenders and audit appenders.

See Access Rights to TeamConnect Designer for information about minimal required rights to work with the TeamConnect Designer area.

The following table provides links to detailed documentation for the various components referenced in this article/topic.

Components Description

Administer Custom Tools Rights

This guide outlines the process for managing custom tools in TeamConnect. Solution developers must first create and upload custom tool source files. Then, using the Administer Custom Tools page, the tools are added to TeamConnect’s list of available tools. To make these tools accessible to end users, administrators or developers must assign the appropriate rights via the Tool Rights page within group records. This page focuses specifically on the rights assignment step.
Global Navigation Toolbar Rights The Global Navigation page enables solution developers to customize the TeamConnect Global Navigation toolbar, including tabs, related links, and tab-specific content visible to users upon login. To access and modify this page, appropriate rights must be assigned. This section includes a reference table detailing the rights and their corresponding operations.

Customize Home Pages Rights

The Home Pages page allows solution developers to customize the primary content displayed on the initial landing page after users log into TeamConnect. To access and modify this content, appropriate rights must be assigned. This section includes a table outlining the rights and their associated operations.
Lookup Tables Rights This guide provides an overview of Lookup Tables Rights in TeamConnect, which control access for solution developers to customize specific system lookup tables. These rights pertain to the System tab within the Lookup Tables area. The permissions described affect which options appear in various drop-down lists throughout the TeamConnect user interface.
Custom Lookup Tables Rights This guide outlines Custom Lookup Tables Rights in TeamConnect, which grant solution developers the ability to create and manage custom lookup tables. These rights apply to the Custom tab within the Lookup Tables area. For end users, these permissions determine which items are available in drop-down lists across the TeamConnect interface.

Multi-Currency Lookup Table Rights

This guide explains Multi-currency Lookup Table Rights in TeamConnect, which allow solution developers to manage the multi-currency lookup table. These rights apply to the Multi-currency tab within the Lookup Tables area. For users, the assigned rights determine the available options in drop-down lists related to currency selections in the TeamConnect interface.
Miscellaneous Settings Rights The Miscellaneous Settings page in the Designer application allows solution developers to manage custom fields that impact individual users' preferences. Once changes are made, these custom fields become available in the user's Preferences area. Administrators must assign the appropriate rights for viewing and working with the Miscellaneous Settings page. This section includes a table outlining these rights and associated operations. Additionally, it covers rights related to releasing edit locks and bypassing search limits.
Object Definitions Rights The Object Definitions Rights guide provides an overview of how to manage system and custom objects within the Object Definitions area of the Designer application. After changes are made, corresponding rights for the objects are reflected in the Record Rights page of the group, under the View drop-down list. Administrators must assign the appropriate rights for accessing and working with the Object Definitions area. This section includes a table explaining the rights and their associated operations.
Customize Portal Panes Rights The Portal Panes area allows solution developers to customize the content within individual panes (portal panes) displayed on the home page that appears after users log into TeamConnect. Administrators must assign the appropriate rights to enable viewing and interaction with the Portal Panes area. This section includes a table outlining the rights and associated operations for managing portal panes.
Routes Rights The Routes Rights guide explains how solution developers and administrators can assign rights to users based on their roles and responsibilities. The Routes area enables developers to manage routes, including configuring approvers, reviewers, process managers, and email notifications related to workflow approvals. Administrators must assign the appropriate rights to ensure users can view and interact with the Routes area. This section provides a table detailing the rights and their associated operations for managing routes in TeamConnect.
System Settings and Appenders Rights This article explains the System Settings and Appenders Rights within TeamConnect. From the Designer application, the System Settings drop-down list provides access to two areas: System Settings and Appenders. Administrators can assign rights to these areas through the System Settings rights configuration. To ensure users can view and manage these settings, the appropriate rights must be assigned for both System Settings and Appenders.
