Object Definitions Rights

This guide provides an overview of Object Definitions Rights.

The Object Definitions area from the Designer application allows solution developers to manage system and custom objects. After making changes to the Object Definitions area, those objects should have corresponding rights from a group's Record Rights page, View drop-down list. You must assign the appropriate rights for viewing and working with the Object Definitions area. This section contains a table that explains these rights and their associated operations.

After you assign any of the basic Object Definitions rights (View Home Pages, Edit Home Pages, Create Home Pages, or Delete Home Pages), the following pages will be available:

  • (from the Go To menu) Object Definitions list
  • Object Definition record for each of the following system objects:
    • Account
    • Appointment
    • Contact
    • Document
    • Expense
    • Group
    • History
    • Invoice
    • Task
    • User
  • Object Definition record for any custom objects

Within each system object's Object Definition view, the following system blocks are represented by tabs:

  • Custom Fields
  • Forms
  • Object Views
  • (Custom) Blocks
  • Rules
  • Templates
  • Wizards

There are corresponding rights to work with the system blocks (tabs), for example, View Object Definition Custom Fields. If you deny rights to a system block, a user will not be able to perform operations on the corresponding tab, but all system block tabs will still display. To create valid rules with qualifiers, users must save the general rule data and then set the qualifiers. So, users must have Update rights to rules and the Read and Update rights to qualifiers.

To set actions for approval rules, users must have the Read right to the route.
