Description: Now Suite is installed with an auto-installer instead of patching the contents of a WAR file. The auto-installer installs software dependencies. For more information, see Using Suite Autoinstaller.

Enhancement: New timeout system setting

Description: We introduce a new system setting that allows you to configure request timeouts. If Suite processes large invoices (1000 lines or more), you can configure a longer timeout to avoid the process interrupting before it finishes.

Enhancement: Lookup codes and timekeeper sync processes are separated into different tasks.

Description: Lookup codes and timekeeper sync processes used to run on a single task, but while timekeeper sync is a fast task that runs periodically, lookup codes is a lengthy task that requires running a few times per year, that’s why we separated the tasks to improve the performance of timekeeper sync.

Enhancement: Sync task split into Vendor/TImekeeper/Matter and Lookup Codes.

Description: We have split the sync task into Vendor/TImekeeper/Matter and Lookup Codes to reduce processing times and to only synchronize lookup codes when necessary.

eCounsel


 

Enhancement: eCounsel integration to PlatoBI

Description: We introduce the new integration of PlatoBI to eCounsel. PlatoBI is an analytics platform that extracts data from eCounsel and provides insights and trends, such as the total invoices and how they are divided by status, the matter types and vendors that contribute the most to spend, trends on matters active or closed, the most common matter types, among other data. The data and insights shown depend on the user permissions and whether the user is constrained by a logical group. PlatoBI is accessed through an extra module within eCounsel and it’s available for hosted environments. For more information, see PlatoBI Dashboard, under the eCounsel documentation.

Issue:  Show Historical Records in Corporate Data Sheet (CDS) report now is deselected by default.

Description: The Parameters section in the CDS report had Show Historical Records selected by default. For ownership and subsidiaries, there isn’t Start Date and End Date information, which makes historical records difficult to obtain. To solve this issue, now Show Historical Records is deselected by default and Start Date and End Date information is included in the Direct Subs and Direct Owners reports when Show Historical Data is selected.

Issue: Security vulnerability allowed anonymous access.

Description: We fixed a security vulnerability that allowed anyone with Suite landing webpage URL anonymous access to the database settings webpage. Now all webpages within Suite require SAML authentication.

Suite Manager

 

Issue: Collaborati Invoice Import task didn’t process all invoices.

Description: If the first invoice processed by Collaborati Invoice Import threw an exception, the task stopped processing the rest of the invoices.

Issue: If Logical Group Access was unspecified for a Matter Restricted Wizard user, then the user didn’t have access to logical groups.

Description: If a Matter Restricted Wizard user had the following permissions in User > Security Attributes > eCounsel > Logical Group Access:

  • Inherited Access: Limited

  • Override Access: Unspecified

  • Cumulative Access: Limited

Then the user didn't have any Restricted Logical Group assigned in the Matter Restricted Wizard. For more information, see Configuring a User in a Logical Group.

Issue: When the lookup code didn’t match the currency setting in Suite Manager, invoice amounts were set as a foreign currency with a conversion rate of zero.

Issue: Maximum number on UserFields to display didn’t work as expected.

Description: On Grid > Set Maximum value, when configuring maximum number of UserFields to display on grid and then selecting the UserFields to display on the grid, the user could select the maximum number plus one.

Issue: Hosted Suite clients reported severe performance issues.

Description: We fixed a database issue in eCounsel and Secretariat. The issue was related to UserField queries taking too long without timing out.

Issue: Now you can configure Suite Manager > System Settings >  Number of decimal places to round to four to avoid discrepancies in decimals in tax amounts between Summary and Invoice Base Info tabs.

Super Viewer

 

Issue: Super Viewer couldn’t open all entities properly.

Description:  We fixed an issue in which Super Viewer couldn’t open some entities properly, when a user clicked on Entity > Data Sheet, the Data Sheet didn’t open.

eCounsel

 

Issue: We solved the following issues with tax fields:

  • We created audit rules to validate Tax type, Task, Activity, and Expense Codes.

  • We created a rule that validates tax types that a firm imports to eCounsel. Before, for invoices LEDES98bi, the value entered in LINE_ITEM_TAX_TYPE was not validated and sometimes LINE_ITEM_TAX_TYPE was not valid for eCounsel, causing errors.

Issue: Adding a manual invoice with an invoice-level discount results in Units set as 0.

Description: When a user added a manual invoice that included a discount, a LEDES file was created with Units set as 0.

Issue: Update Player Rate was not sending emails.

Description: Update Player Rate updated records but didn’t send a confirmation email when processing one player.

Issue: Search module yielding incorrect search results.

Description: We fixed an issue in the Search module, when exporting predefined search results using the Search module, the search result yielded extra incorrect fields whereas running the search within eCounsel yielded the correct result.

Issue: Double quotes (“”) render the Summary webpage without buttons.

Description: We fixed an issue in which adding double quotes to the name of a Person caused the Summary webpage to render without buttons.

Issue: Player rule comparing the wrong invoice.

Description: In Player Rate Information, the player rule Validate Rate compared the invoice rate of the first player record instead of the most recent one.

Issue: Invoices repeating VAT types and taxable fees.

Description: We solved an issue in which invoices processed more VAT types and taxable fees than needed.

Issue: Discounts applied to manual invoices with taxes didn’t affect tax rate calculations

Description: When a user added a non-US invoice (a manual invoice with taxes) in Corridor, a discount was added to a line item, and charges were calculated per unit, the added discount wasn’t used for the tax calculation.

Issue: Vendors submitted timekeepers through Corridor but emails were sent to a different firm.

Description: Clients received timekeeper notifications in the Lobby, but the data was incorrect. The firm submitted the timekeeper data to a different firm.

Issue: Timekeeper Import CSV file with special characters uploaded incorrectly.

Description: When users attempted to import a Timekeeper Import CSV file that contained special characters within the Latin alphabet, the characters were imported incorrectly.

Issue: Primary Staff Member can't be removed from a hold in eCounsel

Description: In eCounsel integrations to LegalHold, when trying to remove a Primary staff Member from a hold, the Primary Staff Member could be removed from LegalHold but it remained in eCounsel.

Issue: Audit rule fails in Collaborati integrations with eCounsel.

Description: When eCounsel is configured as follows:

  • Collaborati is integrated with eCounsel. 

  • eCounsel is configured to run the invoice audit rule and to reject invoices if the audit rule fails.

if a user runs the invoice task in Collaborati and an invoice fails the audit rule in eCounsel, the following scenario occurs:

  • eCounsel shows the invoice status as Rejected.

  • Collaborati might show the invoice with the status Pending on Client.

Suite Installation Instructions

See Using Suite Autoinstaller. You can also install Suite manually using the following instructions:

  1. Stop the Suite application on the Java application server. 

  2. Back up the Suite Web application in the WebApps folder on the Java application server. Delete the contents of the Suite folder in WebApps after making the backup.

  3. Rename the suite.8.11.17.0.war file to the deployed filename in the WebApps folder. 

  4. Copy the newly named war file to the WebApps folder and overwrite the current file contents.

  5. Unzip the new war file into the Suite folder in WebApps.

  6. Copy the following files from the backed up WAR file:

  • WEB-INF\classes\com\bsi\attributes\darwin.properties

  • WEB-INF\classes\com\bsi\attributes\dbs.enc

  • client.htm

7. Delete all files in the following folders on the server:

  • \work 

  • \conf\catalina

  • \temp

  • \bin\WEB-INF

8. Restart the Suite application on the Java application server.

 

 

Boxir4 Installation Instructions

See Using Suite Autoinstaller. You can also install Boxir4 manually using the following instructions:

  1. Stop the  Suite application on the Java application server. 

  2. Back up the Suite Web application in the WebApps folder on the Java application server. Delete the contents of the Suite folder in WebApps after making the backup.

  3. Copy the boxir4-Suite.8.11.17.0.war file to the webapps Suite deployment folder.

  4. Restart the Suite application on the Java application server.

 

Database Script Instructions

Install the database script manually. Suite Autoinstaller doesn't install the database scripts.

  1. Use your preferred database tool (SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle RMAN utility, Oracle export data pump utility, etc.) to make a backup of your Suite database.

  2. Log in to your query tool as an administrative user.

  3. Open the appropriate scripts .ZIP file for your database:

◦ Suite8.11.0.sp17.0-Scripts-Oracle.zip for Oracle databases

◦ Suite8.11.0.sp17.0-Scripts-SQL.zip for SQL databases

  1. Open and run the SQL script.

 

Suite Manager Installation Instructions 

Install Suite Manager:

  1. Uninstall the current instance of Suite Manager.
  2. Extract the files from the Suite Manager.zip file.
  3. Start the installation program for Suite Manager located in the directory in which the Suite Manager.EXE file was extracted.
  4. Click Next on the Welcome screen.
  5. On the License Key screen, type the license key in the text box and click Next.
  6. On the Choose Destination Location screen, confirm that the Destination Folder is the desired directory location for the program files.
  7. On the Start Installation screen, click Next to begin the installation process.
  8. A progress screen will display. You can abort the installation at any time by clicking Cancel.
  9. On the Installation Complete screen, click Finish.

 

Rule Installation Instructions 

Install the rules manually:

  1. Depending on the encryption that you use (standard or unlimited), extract the contents from the rules .ZIP files to a location accessible by the Suite server. The following files are examples of rules ZIP files:
    • InvoiceAllocationCheck_STD.zip
    • InvoiceAllocationCheck_UNL.zip
  2. Open Suite Manager.
  3. On the Suite Manager control panel, click the Rules Engine component in the Tools & Utilities area.
  4. On the Rules Engine window, click the Invoice Audit Rules tab at the top of the window.
  5. Click the rule, for example, InvoiceAllocationCheck rule to select it, click the Delete button, and click Yes to confirm deletion.
  6. Click Import, navigate to the BSI file, for example: InvoiceAllocationCheck.bsi file, and then click Open.
  7. In the dialog box, configure the parameters for the rule, and click Save and Close.
  8. After importing the rule, click the Refresh All Application Server Settings button on the General tab of System Settings to trigger a cache refresh so that the rule is implemented immediately.

Report Template Installation Instructions 

Install the reports manually:

  1. Unzip the appropriate report packages for your configuration, depending on which reports, database, and report server are being used. You will need to reimport each report individually.
    • SQL Server or Oracle for your database (the zip files are labeled accordingly)
    • i-net Crystal Reports or SAP BusinessObjects for your report server (the zip files for BusinessObjects are labeled BOE)
  2. Open eCounsel and click the Reports module.
  3. On the Reports List page, click the report to be updated and then click the Reimport button.
  4. On the Reports dialog box, browse to the location for the corresponding .RPT file included with this update release and click the Upload button.
  5. Click OK on the message box.

Corridor Task Installation Instructions 

Install the tasks manually:

To Import the Corridor Lookup Codes Task:

  1. In Suite Manager, open the Scheduler component, and click the Template tab.
  2. On the Select the XML or Script file for import dialog box, select the CorrLookupCodesTask.xml and then click Open.

To Schedule the Corridor Lookup Codes Task:

  1. In the Suite Manager Scheduler component, click the Service tab, and verify that the service has been started.
  2. On the Schedule tab, select the Corridor Lookup Codes Task and click New.
  3. In the Schedule area, create a schedule for the task.
  4. Click Save and Close.

Collaborati Task Installation Instructions 

Install the tasks manually:

To Import the Collaborati Lookup Codes Task:

  1. In Suite Manager, open the Scheduler component, and click the Template tab.
