How do I change the 2FA phone number for a portal user?

If two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled for portal users, the portal user will be prompted to add the phone number when they first log into their portal user account. The 2FA phone number is a separate field and does not link to the individual's phone numbers or the organization contact's work/mobile numbers.

After the phone number is added, only tenant users can make a change to the 2FA phone number. This can only be updated in the Classic Interface.

  • Individuals: Go to the portal tab of the individual. Click Edit next to the 2FA Phone Number. Update the phone number. Click Save.

  • Organization Contacts: Go to the organization contact. Click Edit in the Primary Organization section. Update the 2FA Phone number field. Click Save and Continue. Click Skip Associations.

The phone number format should be +(country code)(phone number) without any spaces. For example, +18887847224
