End User Trouble Shooting Guide for TeamConnect O365 Add-In 4.0

Purpose

When utilizing the TeamConnect O365 Add-In 4.0, users may encounter certain challenges that aren't immediately discernible from the user interface messages alone. In such cases, if a technical concern arises on the user's end, it's advisable to escalate the matter to the system administrator. They will then engage in troubleshooting to pinpoint the issue and access relevant error logs for resolution.

Overview

Error Logs and Their Types:

Error logs record program-generated messages in the event of application errors. These logs are categorized into front-end and back-end logs.

Back-End Logs in TeamConnect:
  • Back-end logs are captured within TeamConnect.
  • They monitor API connection issues between TeamConnect and Outlook, including server response errors and time-out warnings.
  • These logs are part of the regular TC logs.
Front-End Logging in Outlook:
  • Front-end logging is available in the Outlook interface.
  • Users can directly download their logs from the Outlook add-in.
  • These logs specifically capture user interface or screen problems and do not include errors related to API connectivity.

Steps to navigate to Error Logging

  1. Users must raise an issue with the system administrator in case of any issues with the add-in. The support team will check the backend logs first to find out if there is any error in the backend API and in case no errors are found, they will request the user's front-end logs.

  1. Click on the User icon present on the top right corner of the page. A pop-up appears.
  2. Click on Logging from the options. The following screen is displayed.

  1. There are three modes of logging that appear in the drop-down list.

    1. Off - Set the logging mode to Off if you do not want to see any front-end logs. This is the default option.
    2. Error - Set the logging mode to Error and the logs will only be published if there is an error in the front end. This is the recommended option.
    3. Debug - In this mode, whatever components are initialized and whatever code is executed will be displayed along with the error that occurred. This would be the component initialization and completion of initialization calls.
  2. If the Logging Mode is selected to Off, there are no fields displayed below the selection.

  1. Once you've chosen either the Error or Debug modes, proceed to input the desired number of days into the 'Keep Logs for the Last (Days)' text box, specifying the time frame from which you intend to retrieve the logs.

    1. The range of values is limited, with a minimum of 1 day (default value) and a maximum of 60 days.
