Suite 8.11.0 SP18

These release notes detail the information related to Enhancements, Improvements, and Resolved Issues in Suite 8.11.0 SP18, released on September 8, 2025. And this release introduces key enhancements to Suite and eCounsel, focused on usability, performance, and data accuracy:
In Suite:
- Suite now supports Amazon Corretto OpenJDK.
- Added Multi Filters toggle for better grid filtering.
- Introduced a Reset Preferences UI for users.
- Enhanced Support Info with detailed version and patch data.
- Improved Save button behavior to prevent duplicate submissions.
- Updated Logs module with search and saved views.
- Strengthened Appstamp token for better security.
In eCounsel:
- New Matter Status Change Wizard for bulk updates.
- Default values now auto-populate in new matters.
- Improved Matter Wizard UI and template restoration.
- Added Associate Level field for employee categorization.
- New Timekeeper Mapping Settings UI for CSV customization.
- Email alerts for timekeeper rejections.
- Duplicate detection for timekeeper imports now enabled.
- Enhanced Corridor validations and feedback for timekeeper uploads.

Suite Installation
For more information on the Suite auto-installer, please refer to Using Suite Autoinstaller.
You must follow these steps to install this product Suite.8.11.18.0 manually:
- Stop the Bridgeway Suite application on the Java application server.
- Back up the Suite Web application in the WebApps folder on the Java application server. Delete the contents of the Suite folder in WebApps after making the backup.
- Rename the suite.8.11.18.0.war file to the deployed filename in the WebApps folder.
- Copy the newly named war file to the WebApps folder and overwrite the current file contents.
- Unzip the new war file into the Bridgeway Suite folder in WebApps.
- Copy the following files from the backed up WAR file:
- WEB-INF\classes\com\bsi\attributes\darwin.properties
- WEB-INF\classes\com\bsi\attributes\dbs.enc
- client.htm
- Delete all files in the following folders on the server:
- \work
- \conf\catalina
- \temp
- \bin\WEB-INF
- Restart the Bridgeway Suite application on the Java application server.
Database Script Instructions
- Use your preferred database tool (SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle RMAN utility, Oracle export data pump utility, etc.) to make a backup of your Suite database.
- Log in to your query tool as an administrative user.
- Open the appropriate scripts .ZIP file for your database:
- suite8.11.0.sp18.0-Scripts-Oracle.zip for Oracle databases
- suite8.11.0.sp18.0-Scripts-SQL.zip for SQL databases
- Open and run the SQL script.
Suite Manager Installation
You must follow these steps to install the Suite.Manager:
- Uninstall the current instance of Suite Manager.
- Extract the files from the Suite Manager.zip file.
- Start the installation program for Suite Manager located in the directory in which the Suite Manager.EXE file was extracted.
- Click Next on the Welcome screen.
- On the License Key screen, type the license key in the text box and click Next.
- On the Choose Destination Location screen, confirm that the Destination Folder is the desired directory location for the program files.
- On the Start Installation screen, click Next to begin the installation process.
- A progress screen will display. You can abort the installation at any time by clicking Cancel.
- On the Installation Complete screen, click Finish.

Enhancement: New toggle to enable Multi Filters in modules
Description: We have added a new toggle to enable Multi Filters for different modules within eCounsel and Secretariat. The Enable Multi Filters on grid toggle in Tools > Preferences lets you configure which modules should display Multi Filters.

Enhancement: New UI to reset user preferences.
Description: Now Suite has a UI to reset the user preferences. All users can access the UI to review and reset their user preferences. The Reset Preferences UI is located in the Tools section.

Enhancement: More data about the Suite application version and patch level in Tools > About > Support Information.
Description: Now, the option Tools > About > Support Information contains more information about the Suite version and patch level, such as the DATABASEHISTORY table that provides information about scripts applied to Suite, and information about the WAR installation applied to the platform.

Enhancement: Now Save buttons don’t allow users to save a form again if the form hasn’t finished saving.
Description: Now the Save buttons in modules Matter, People, Entities, Invoices, Calendar, and Progress Notes in eCounsel, and modules Entities, Jurisdiction, Titles, and Calendar in Secretariat don’t allow users to save a form again if the form hasn’t finished saving.

Enhancements: New search capabilities in the Logs module and the ability to save user preferences.
Description: The Logs module now saves the last view so that the view remains consistent when the user navigates Suite. Also, we have added filters to search logs by name and last modified date.

Enhancements: Stronger Appstamp token
Description: Suite and eCounsel use the Appstamp token to validate sessions. It’s only valid for a single request within the application. Now we have made the Appstamp token more randomized to enhance Suite security.

Enhancement: The new Matter Status Change Wizard for eCounsel
Description: We introduce the new Matter Status Change Wizard, which has the following functionality:
- Multiple matters selection and filtering
- Ability to change the matter status for multiple matters at once
- Ability to change Close Date for multiple matters at once

Enhancement: We changed Veteran, LGBTQI, and Disabled from checkboxes to dropdown lists.
Description: We have changed the Veteran, LGBTQI, and Disabled checkboxes to dropdown lists to capture the correct values: Yes, No, and Undefined in the Lookup codes synchronization and Timekeeper form.

Enhancement: New Matter Wizard (NMW) Improvements
Description: The NMW UI improves the layout of the template fields by adding buttons to expand or collapse sections. Also, the NMW now lets you restore old templates.

Enhancement: New default values when adding new matters
Description: The Matter module preferences now contain a set of fields that let you choose the following values:
- Law Area
- Law Sub Area
- Product/Service
- Matter Status
- Region
- State
- Country
- Priority
Before, those values could be added when editing a matter, but now they can be auto-populated when a new matter is created.

Enhancement: New Associate Level field to categorize employee data.
Description: We introduce the Associate Level field in the People > Employment and the Entity > Employee tabs. The Associate Level field is displayed in the tabs by default.

Enhancement: New Timekeeper Mapping Settings UI lets you customize the Timekeeper File Import CSV file.
Description: We introduce the Timekeeper Mapping Settings UI to customize the Timekeeper File Import CSV file. You can ignore the optional fields and create a customized Timekeeper File Import CSV file.

Enhancement: Corridor Timekeeper rejections now send notifications by email.
Description: When one or several timekeepers are rejected, the corresponding vendor is notified via email. The vendor email used is the one registered for invoice rejections.

Enhancement: New feature to avoid duplicate records in eCounsel when uploading people using a timekeeper CSV file.
Description: We fixed an issue where a timekeeper number with leading zeros was processed as a new timekeeper ID instead of comparing it to existing records. Excel can enter leading zeros to timekeeper IDs when editing the CSV file. Now, when importing a CSV file using Timekeeper Import, eCounsel notifies if it encounters a potential duplicate. This capability needs to be enabled in Suite Manager.

Enhancements: Improved validation for timekeepers template uploads in Corridor to reject incorrect formats and prevent issues in the Timekeeper Import Wizard. Added feedback mechanisms for rejected files and addressed Lobby widget data inconsistencies across users.

Issue: We fixed minor security issues.

Issue: HotDocs in Suite were incompatible with OpenJDK17.
Description: We fixed an issue where opening HotDocs documents or trying to import templates to Suite Manager > Template Import produced errors when Suite was installed with OpenJDK17.

Issue: The Hidden security setting didn’t work with UserFields.
Description: We fixed an issue where UserFields set as Hidden were still visible for users that had the Hidden setting on.

Issue: Sorting by Entity caused an error.
Description: Sorting the Entities grid caused an error when the query used InternalNumber. The root cause was values in user preferences misconfiguring the query, and the fix consists of adding an option to delete user preferences for users who encounter the error when sorting Entities.

Issue: Opening Matter > Custom tab caused all User Fields to display twice.
Description: When multiple users accessed the same matter and the same Custom tab simultaneously, the Custom tab couldn’t be edited and all User Fields appeared twice.

Issue: Problems syncing invoices when applying the LineItemCalculationwithTax rule.
Description: When an invoice was created, Corridor rounded the values to two decimal places to send it to eCounsel causing the LineItemCalculationwithTax rule to fail.

Issue: A single document could be stored more than once in Suite integrations to a file server.
Description: On a Suite installation integrated to a Linux file server, Linux could store files with the same name but a different case combination as different files, so when files with different names but a different case combination were transferred back to Windows, they would be treated as the same file, causing data loss. Now Suite differentiates between uppercase and lowercase to distinguish files and applies a suffix to avoid overwriting two different files.

Issue: Suite Multifilters UI changes.
Description: We have improved the Multifilters UI by readjusting the scrollbars, reorganizing UI components, and designing a more compact view for better readability.

Suite Manager
Issue: New Matter Wizard (NMW) template didn’t change the NeedSync flag to true.
Description: New matters created with the NMW didn’t set the NeedSync flag to true, so they weren’t synced to Corridor.

Issue: The Accrual Notification Task stopped abruptly and didn’t send email notifications.
Description: The Accrual Notification Task wasn’t sending notifications as expected, so we changed the Accrual Notification Task workflow by incorporating logic to deal with invalid emails and inactive Entities and People. The Accrual Notification Task is run in the Scheduler module in Suite Manager, and it’s configured in Scheduler > Templates.

Issue: Invoices failed to be imported into Corridor integrations with eCounsel.
Description: In Corridor integrations with eCounsel, when a user created a manual invoice without taxes in Corridor, the invoice failed to import to Suite. The issue was caused by Matter > Invoice Detail > Invoice Detail taxable set to hidden in Suite Manager > Modules/Tabs > Invoices.

Issue: Deleting a matter in Invoice > Matter tab raised a server error.

Issue: Module Matter > Player didn’t show records containing null values.
Description: When a user sorted by Primary Contractor in module Matter > Player, records that contained a null value in column Primary Contractor were removed from the results.

Issue: Crystal Report had checkboxes selected by default.
Description: We restored the functionality of Cristal Report by leaving all checkboxes unchecked by default.

Issue: The Lobby widget on the homepage displayed a “No value present” error.

Issue: Resolved an issue where the Active field was no longer auto-populating when assistants created new matters, resulting in matters being saved without a status.

Issue: Matter Type couldn’t be changed when editing matters.
Description: When trying to edit the Matter Type, the Continue button disappeared on the Change Matter Type pop-up window and the change couldn’t be saved. The issue was due to special characters, such as apostrophes, being unrecognized by the platform.

Issue: The custom Reserves tab didn’t allow, to sort records by Start Date. Custom tabs are specially designed for clients that require some extra functionality.

Secretariat
Issue: Updating Suite Server OS to Microsoft Windows 2019 and updating Suite from v.8.11.0.10 to v.8.11.16.1.1 caused errors on the Transaction Ledger.
Description: The Transaction Ledger rendered incorrectly when updating the Suite OS and version. Transaction Ledger presented the following behavior:
- The toolbar was missing.
- Data in the upper section, for example, Words Issued or Outstanding, didn’t display properly.
Transaction Ledger is configured in Suite Manager → Secretariat → Ownership, option Disable automatically calculate share balances based on transaction ledger. To access the Transaction Ledger in Secretariat, go to Entities, select an Entity, and go to the Base Info tab.

Issue: The Securities Ownership Report showed the word “Equity” at the top of each page of the equity details instead of the entity name.

Issue: Fixed an issue where the Percentage Redeem/Changed Date field in the Secretariat Ownership tab displayed "False" when no date was entered.

Issue: We fixed committees in the Secretariat couldn’t be set to inactive status.
Description: Secretariat → Entities didn’t show the end date for committees and couldn’t transition to inactive status.
