Changing the location of your Watched Folders

Scenario:-

You have noticed that you are short of space on the drive where Watched Folder Indexing takes place from and wish to move it to a different drive with more capacity

Resolution:-

In Management Studio you note that the ‘base folders’ cannot be edited and you can only create new Base folders or delete the existing ones.

Rather than deleting and recreating the base folder and watched folders associated with the base folder which would take a considerable time the quick and easy method is to stop the datastore service, open the HitecLabs.DataStore.DataStoreService.exe.Config, search for D:\Import and change the path to E:\Import, copy and paste the D:\Import to E:\Import folders and sub folders in Windows explorer and then restart the service.

And the base folder now reflects that change in Management Studio

Considerations:-

All data feeds from other systems will need to be amended to send the data files to the new location.
