Managing Event Date and Due Date Restrictions

The administrators can now have finer control over how the system validates Event Date and Event Due Date. Two independent form settings now determine whether users can create:

  • Events with a future Event Date.
  • Events where the Event Date is after the Event Due Date.

Previously, a single Allow Future Date setting controlled both behaviors, causing configuration issues for clients who needed future Event Dates but still required validation between the Event Date and Due Date.

Configure Event Date and Due Date Validation

Open Event Form Settings
  1. Navigate to Administration > Forms (or Form Management, depending on your configuration).
  2. Select the event form you want to configure.
  3. Open the Settings or Validation tab.
Configure Independent Settings
  1. Locate the following options:
    • Allow Future Date
    • Allow Event Date After Due Date
  2. Configure the settings as needed:
    • Allow Future Date: When selected, users can create events with an Event Date in the future.
    • Allow Event Date After Due Date: When selected, users can create events where the Event Date is later than the Event Due Date.
How the Settings Work Together
  • Both selected: Users can set the Event Date in the future, even after the Due Date.
  • Only Allow Event Date After Due Date selected: Users can set Event Date later than Due Date, but not in the future.
  • Only Allow Future Date selected: Users can set Event Date in the future, but not later than the Due Date.
  • Both cleared: Users cannot set the Event Date to a future date or to a date later than the Due Date.

Example

If Allow Future Date and Allow Event Date After Due Date are both cleared:

  • Event Date: 1 Feb 2028
  • Due Date: 2 Feb 2025

The system does not allow the event to be created because:

  • The Event Date is in the future.
  • The Event Date is after the Due Date.

Error Messages

  • If Allow Future Date is disabled: “Cannot create an event for a future date if the ‘Allow Future Date’ setting in the form is disabled.”
  • If Allow Event Date After Due Date is disabled: “Cannot create Event where the Event Date is after Due Date if the ‘Allow Event Date After Due Date’ setting in the form is disabled.”
