Custom Record Rights

Record types that solution developers can create and customize for your company are custom records. This section describes standard rights that would be assigned to a generic custom record, called a project (for TeamConnect) or matter (for TeamConnect Legal and TeamConnect® Express).

Project/Matter Rights

For TeamConnect, custom records are referred to in this guide as Projects. For TeamConnect Legal and TeamConnect® Express, custom records are referred to in this guide as Matters. In this guide, the terms project and matter can be considered as the same.

You must assign the appropriate rights to view or work with Projects/Matters, as explained in the following tables:

  • The Basic Rights to Project/Matter table explains basic rights to work with a Project/Matter, for example, View Project records and Edit Project records.
  • The Additional Project/Matter Rights explains rights you can assign to work with additional pages that are part of that Project, for example, View Project security and Edit Project security.

Basic Project/Matter Rights

One or more basic project rights is required to view or work with projects.

The following table explains the basic rights to a Project/Matter:

They also need to view pages where the operations are available. These Project/Matter rights enable a group to view the following additional TeamConnect pages:

  • Project/Matter record > Assignees
  • Project/Matter record > Phases
  • Project/Matter record > Involved
  • Project/Matter record > Relations

Project/Matter Involved Rights

For TeamConnect, custom records are referred to in this guide as Projects. For TeamConnect Legal and TeamConnect® Express, custom records are referred to in this guide as Matters. In this guide, the terms project and matter can be considered as the same.

Involved Parties (Involved) are contacts associated with the Project/Matter, but not assigned to the Project/Matter. You must assign the appropriate rights to enable specific Involved-related operations, as explained in the following tables:

  • The Basic Rights to Involved Contact table explains basic rights you may assign a group to allow its members to work with Involved Parties, for example, View Project involved and Edit Project involved.
  • The Additional Involved Rights explains rights you must assign a group to allow its members to work with additional features that are part of an Involved Contact, for example, View Project involved security and Edit Project involved security.

See the User Guide for more information on projects and involved records.

Note: After creating a custom object (project), you must create an associated Involved object. Afterward you can assign rights for that Involved object.

One or more basic Involved rights is required to view or work with involved contacts. The following table explains the basic rights to Involved:
