Changing Document Permissions

Any user can further restrict security on a document for which they have edit rights, but only certain users can override inherited matter security for a document. Members of the Allow Document Security Edits group can override inherited matter security on a document-by-document basis by using the Additional Security Rights attributes on the Metadata card of the document.

If you need rights to override inherited security, contact your Vault Admin.

To change the permissions on a document using the Mitratech Document Vault Client:

  1. On the Metadata card for the document, click the lock labeled Automatic permissions.

  2. On the Permissions dialog box, select the object in the Selected permission settings group.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. On the General tab, select the Use named access control list checkbox and select the access level.
  5. Click OK on both dialog boxes.

To change the permissions on a document using the Mitratech Document Vault Web interface:

  1. On the Metadata card for the document, click the lock labeled Automatic permissions.
  2. Select one of the controlled access lists that appears in the dropdown list.
