Term

Definition, Description or Meaning

Watched Folder: Indexing Options

(See also, "Index")

A folder created, or linked to (in Management Studio), when configuring Indexing Options. Watched Folders hold documents which will be indexed automatically into DataStoreDSX.

All Watched Folders are associated with Data Definitions which are used to Index documents.

Watched Folder: Indexing Studio

(See also, "Index")

A folder created, or linked to (in Indexing Studio), when configuring Indexing Options.

All Watched Folders are associated with Data Definitions which are used to Index documents.

Watermark

(See also, "Overlay")

An option in Management Studio’s Data Definition Editor, Presentation, Configuration Options, to print text (usually lightly) on all pages of a set of printed documents. For example: a watermark could be a term such as Draft, Restricted, etc.

Although the watermark is usually clearly visible, it should not obscure the actual content of the printed page.

WebDAV

Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) is an extension of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) that facilitates collaboration between users in editing and managing documents and files stored on World Wide Web servers.

In DataStoreDSX, WebDAV allows users to automatically open Word documents without having to first download them from the server. There are three WebDAV configurations available: File Explorer Endpoint, Forms Endpoint and Windows Endpoint.

WebDAV: File Explorer Endpoint

A File Explorer WebDAV endpoint allows users to connect to a mapped web location, open folders and edit documents which are stored in DataStoreDSX. Each new edit increases the document version by either a minor or a major version. (The DataStoreDSX WebDAV Explorer view does not support delete, copy, rename or new. When a user attempts to perform any of those commands, the command will fail.) Also, the files which are stored in DataStoreDSX are available to users according to previously set DataStoreDSX permissions and access rights.

WebDAV: Forms Endpoint

A Forms WebDAV endpoint allows users who log in to DataStoreDSX, using Forms authentication, to use WebDAV to edit documents returned in Searching Client.

WebDAV: Windows Endpoint

A Windows WebDAV endpoint allows users who log in to DataStoreDSX, using Windows authenti- cation, to use WebDAV to edit documents returned in Searching Client.

Whiting Out (see "Area Blanking")

Wildcard Characters (see "Logical Operators")

Windows Device

(See also, "Device")

A Windows Device is a storage system that DataStoreDSX applications can use to store, access and return data on demand.

Windows Endpoint (see "WebDAV: Windows Endpoint")

Workspace Pane

A window, in indexing studio, which displays a list of currently published Data Definitions and the number of uploaded documents associated with each one. Also, in its Unassigned Documents folder, it displays the number of documents uploaded but not associated with (i.e. assigned to) any of the displayed Data Definitions.
