Case In Continuance

This explains what the user should do for cases in continuance.

What does "Case In Continuance" means?

A case result of "E-Verify Needs More Time", "Case In Continuance", or "Verification In Process" means that DHS cannot provide an automatic initial result for the case and needs more time to review the provided data.

Next Steps

E-Verify will update most of these cases within 24 hours, although some responses may take up to 3 federal government working days. No action is required by either the employer or the employee at this time, but the employer can check E-Verify daily for a response. Users may refresh the case to confirm that the case result is up to date.

An employer may not take adverse action against an employee because of an "E-Verify Needs More Time", "Case In Continuance", or "Verification In Process" result.

Possible next statuses that appear after the E-Verify Needs More Time page are Employment Authorized, Photo Match, Are you sure?, Tentative Nonconfirmation (TNC), and Final Nonconfirmation (FNC).
