Sept 2016 - 4.2 Rule Types and Rule Configurations
This product webinar is designed to review how rules in TeamConnect can be configured to support your business processes. Users should expect to be presented real life business use cases and learn how to configure appropriate rules in the system.
- Rules in TeamConnect allow users to enforce and guide business process and they can be edited and flexed over time to accommodate changes in the organization.
- There are 8 rule types: security, pre-population, validation, approval, custom action, scheduled action, audit, and post-commit.
- Rules have 4 main attributes
- Object – the record type in which the action is taking place (Dispute, Contact, Invoice, etc.)
- Trigger - the end user action that sets the rule off (Update, Create, Post, etc.)
- Qualifier – the information that must be true for the rule to execute
- Actions – the result of the rule running
EXAMPLE RULES
Approval Rule - If a posted invoice is over 500K and for a litigation matter, route the invoice for approval in the following order: Main Assignee > Attorney on the Matter > General Counsel
- Rule Attributes
- Object – Invoice
- Trigger – Posting the invoice
- Qualifier – Invoice is ≥ 500k AND the invoice is for a litigation matter
- Action – Send invoice through an approval chain
Post-Commit Rule - When the “Answer Due” field is updated on a Lawsuit Matter, send an email notification to the main assignee and cc the other assignees.
- Rule Attributes
- Object – Dispute
- Trigger – Update
- Qualifier – “Answer Due” field is changed AND the dispute is a litigation matter
- Action – Send an email notification
