Overview of HotDocs Advance
HotDocs Advance is a document automation platform that lets organizations create, manage, and generate complex legal, business or any other documents quickly and accurately. Users upload templates built with HotDocs Author and use Advance to run interviews (Interactive questionnaires that collect data) and then automatically produce completed documents based on the responses. It’s designed to save time, reduce errors, and ensure consistency across all documents.

Overview of HotDocs Interview
HotDocs Interview is the user-facing component of the HotDocs document automation process. It presents an interactive, step-by-step questionnaire designed to collect the information required to complete a specific template. As users progress through the interview, their responses are dynamically captured and used to populate the corresponding fields in the document. During the interview, users can preview the final document, view the variables being filled, and update or add any missing information as needed.

How to Access Document Automation in TeamConnect
- Document Automation functionality is only currently available within all Custom Objects and Contact Object in TeamConnect.
- You need Document Automation Template View rights and Document Automation Interview View rights to see the templates and interviews.
To access Document Automation Templates and Interviews in an object record, users must navigate to the relevant record within the selected object in TeamConnect. Follow the instructions below to access templates and interviews in an object record.
Steps to Access Templates and Interviews
- From the TeamConnect homepage, navigate to the Custom Object record or Contact record for which you want to generate a document.

- Select the record for which you need to access Document Automation Templates and Interviews.

- In the left navigation panel, locate the dedicated Document Automation menu.

On the Document Automation screen, two sections are displayed:
- Templates
- Interviews
Templates Section
Templates section displays a table listing all templates available or imported into the object record. Users can access the templates and launch an interview using the “Generate Document” button. The templates table comes with interactive grids allowing users to quickly search and find the template they desire.

Interviews Section
Interviews section displays a table listing all interviews and documents generated for the selected object record. If a user selects the "Save to TeamConnect" option after completing an interview, the resulting document will be saved to the Documents section of that object record. These saved documents can then be accessed directly via the Link to Documents column in the Interviews table.

Document Automation Interview in TeamConnect
This section explains how to launch a Document Automation Interview in TeamConnect, generate documents using the interview process, and save them within TeamConnect. Follow the instructions below to initiate the Document Automation Interview.
Launching the Document Automation Interview

Navigate to the Document Automation tab within an object record to access Document Templates and Interviews. For more details, refer to the section: How to Access Document Automation in TeamConnect.

Under the Template section of the object record, you will see a list of templates displayed in a table, each with a Generate Document button. Click Generate Document to start the Document Automation Interview.

This action will open the TeamConnect Document Automation Interview Wizard, which consists of two main pages:
- Interview
- Save Documents
Interview page
The Interview page includes the Document Automation Interview wizard, which consists of three sections:
- Interview
- Document preview
- Answer Summary

- Interview: This screen displays mapped information using global mapping and local mapping users can update required details manually. The interview templates may vary depending on the type of document being generated. To clear the populated fields, use the Actions button in the top-right corner.
- Document Preview: Displays a preview of the document after all required details have been entered.
- Answer Summary: Shows a summary of the information entered in each field during the interview. Users can review and make necessary changes before finalizing the interview.
Completing the Document Automation Interview

Enter all required details in the Interview page. Click the Finish button to proceed.

If there are any unanswered questions, a pop-up window will appear. Click OK to continue or Cancel to go back and complete missing fields.

After clicking Finish, you will be redirected to the Save Documents page. A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to download the generated document to your local system.

On the Save Documents page:
- Select the checkbox to save the document in TeamConnect, then click Finish.
- If you do not want to store the document inside TeamConnect, simply click Finish to complete the interview process.

Once completed users will be redirected to the Document Automation tab of object record and a success message will be displayed on the screen. The completed interview will be available under the Interview block.
Note: In the new environment, Users must update the TeamConnect login URL under the TeamConnect URL section in Admin Settings to access documents saved to TeamConnect from HotDocs via the link available in the Object Interviews table.
