Tree View: Depot Right-Click Menu

By the end of this article you will leave with clear of concepts of Tree View's Deport Righ-Click Menu!

Right-click on a configured Depot in the tree view. The following menu is displayed.

The items shown in the Depot Right-click Menu are described in Table 145.

Table 145. Terminology: Depot Right-Click Menu

Term

Meaning

Make Offline

Select Make Offline to prevent any users from saving data to the Depot or reading any data from the Depot. See “Make Offline/Make Online”.

Make Online

Select Make Online to make the current Depot available for searching and writing. See “Make Offline/Make Online”.

Make Read-Only

Select Make Read-Only to make the current Depot non-writeable. See “Make Read-Only/Make Read-Write”.

Make Read-Write

Select Make Read-Write to make the current Depot writeable. See “Make Read-Only/Make Read-Write”.

Make Non Searchable

Select Make Non Searchable to prevent Searching Client from performing any searches on the current Depot. This also prevents Management Studio users from searching the Depot. See “Make Non Searchable/Make Searchable”.

Make Searchable

Select Make Searchable to allow Searching Client to perform searches on the current Depot. This also allows Management Studio users to search the Depot. See “Make Non Searchable/Make Searchable”.

Edit

Select Edit to edit the currently selected Storage Depot. See “Edit Depot Button”.

Delete

Select Delete to remove the currently selected Storage Depot. See “Delete (Depot)”.

Properties

Select Properties to view the Properties of the currently selected Storage Depot. See “Properties (Depot)”.

Make Offline/Make Online

Select Make Offline to make the current Depot unavailable for data storage or searches. The Depot icon changes to the Offline Depot icon.

Select Make Online to make the current Depot available for data storage and searches.

Make Read-Only/Make Read-Write

Select Make Read-Only to prevent the current Depot from being used for document storage. The Depot icon changes to the Read-Only Depot icon. It is also possible for this icon to be combined with the Non-Searchable Depot icon (when the Depot is both Read-Only and Non Searchable).

Select Make Read-Write to allow the current Depot to be used for document storage.

Make Non Searchable/Make Searchable

Select Make Non Searchable to prevent Searching Client from searching the current Depot. The Depot icon changes to the Non-Searchable Depot icon. It is also possible for this icon to be combined with the Read-Only icon (when the Depot is both Read-Only and Non Searchable.

Select Make Searchable to allow Searching Client to search the current Depot.

Note: It is not possible to Search a Depot if it is not searchable. See “Search Depot Button”.

Edit (Depot)

Right-click on a configured depot in the tree view and select Edit Depot. The Edit Depot pane is displayed.

The Depot properties are displayed. The Depot name (see Table 139 "Terminology: Device Right-Click Menu" for more details) and the Depot size properties can be edited (see Table 140 "Terminology: Add New Depot – General Tab" for more details).

Delete (Depot)

To delete a Depot, right-click on the depot name and select Delete Depot. When the Show ‘Delete Depot’ confirmation is selected, you are prompted to confirm you want to delete the depot and all the information stored on it.

Select Yes to delete the selected Depot and all the data stored on it or No to cancel the deletion.

Properties (Depot)

Right-click on a configured depot in the tree view and select Properties. The Properties pane is displayed.

The Depot Properties are described in Table 146.

Table 146. Terminology: Depot Properties

Term

Meaning

Depot name

The name given to the Depot.

Internal ID

A unique identification string for the Depot which is automatically generated by the application.

Allocation

  • Fixed – The Depot was created with a fixed size.
  • Free – The Depot was allocated all the free space available on the Device at the time of creation.
  • Percentage – The Depot was allocated a percentage of the free space available on the Device at the time of creation.

Depot size

The size of the Depot in Giga Bytes.

Creation date

The date the Depot was created.

Free space

The amount of free space currently available.

Online

  • Yes – The Depot is online.
  • No – The Depot is offline. The Depot is not available to Searching Client or Management Studio for data searches, nor can it be used for document storage.

Searchable

  • Yes – The Depot’s contents can be searched by Searching Client and by Management Studio.
  • No – The Depot’s contents cannot be searched by Searching Client or Management Studio.
  • N/A – The Depot is offline.

Read Only

  • Yes – Documents cannot be stored on the Depot.
  • No – Documents can be stored on the Depot.
  • N/A – The Depot is offline.

Path

The path to the Windows Partition where the Depot was created.
