Linking Records
Introduction
IMS allows you to link records together, so you can understand relationships and dependencies.
There are two options for linking records together:
- Link to New Record
- Link to Existing Record

Link to Existing Record

- Select the appropriate link type:

| Link Type | Description |
| Related |
Indicates that the record is related to the other record in some way. The same record can be related to multiple other records. |
| Predecessor |
Indicates that the record comes before the other record. The same record can be the predecessor of multiple other records. |
| Successor |
Indicates that the record comes after the other record. The same record can be the predecessor of multiple other records. |
| Parent |
Indicates that the record is the parent of the other record. The same record can only be the parent to one other record. |
| Child |
Indicates that the record is the child of the other record. The same record can be the child of multiple other records. |
- Search for the record by ID or text:

- Enter an optional comment to describe the link:

- Cick on Add to create the link.
Link to New Record

- Select the appropriate options for:
- Business Unit
- Record Type
- Link Type (see here for descriptions)
- Link Comment (optional)
- Click on Create
- Enter the details for the new record as appropriate.
Viewing Links
- On a record, select the Linked Records tab:

- Direct Links shows all the records that are directly linked to the record, along with their link type and any link comments:

- All Links shows all the links for the linked records:

Deleting Links
- On a record, select the Linked Records tab:

- Under Direct Links click on the dustbin next to the link you would like to delete:

- Click on Yes to confirm the link deletion:
