ESM v12 Release Highlights
This release finishes off the UI refresh journey we began in 11.0. The vast majority of the UI is now built on a modern web technology stack which brings advantages in terms of performance, stability and security. This release also brings in a number of compatibility updates for Excel and SharePoint Online.
Main highlight #1: UI Enhancements
- A modern and consistent UI experience across the board
- Ability to submit a new file version from the Timeline page
- Ability to set the current path via the Web client (previously only possible through the ESM desktop client)
- Ability to move files between different file system types, e.g. Windows to SharePoint to SharePoint Online and vice versa
- Improved colour contrast for better readability and general accessibility improvements
Main highlight #2: Behaviour & Environment changes
- Excel 2019 support
- SharePoint online integration now uses modern authentication methods
- Validation for usage of Kerberos for Windows athentication
- Discovery is automatically installed and set up as part of ESM Server
- ESM drops Excel 2013 in favour of Excel 2019 on the application server
- SharePoint 2019 is now supported (SharePoint 2013 is no longer supported)
- Internet Explorer 11 is no longer supported
