ESM v12.1 Release Highlights
The release of ClusterSeven ESM v12.1 provides a variety of new features and enhancements to the platform. Among them, Support for Azure Information Protection (AIP) encrypted files, improvements in both task prioritization and diagnostics around current path calculation, as well as Discovery SharePoint online support. Learn about these new updates and more, below.
Main highlights:
- Improve Task Prioritization for Managed Files Events Over Discovery: ESM now prioritizes processing managed files (ESM Client, Web Client) over Discovery risk checks. Previously, risk checks from Discovery deep scans were prioritized over managed files which means a Discovery deep scan could block processing of managed files or other user activity.
- AIP Encrypted Files Support: AIP is a cloud-based protection technology which provides strong encryption for sensitive files. ESM 12.1 introduces support for files protected using AIP. Note that for ESM to process encrypted files, credentials with access to read and decrypt them must be provided in the ESM Management Console.
- Discovery SharePoint Online support: ESM Discovery 12.1 now supports Sharepoint Online. This feature enables the user to perform Light scans and Deep scans for files and Document Libraries from Discovery. For further information on Sharepoint Online, refer to the ClusterSeven ESM 12.1 - Discovery Guide available on the Mitratech Success Center.
- Improved Diagnostics Around Current Path Calculation: In the past users have struggled to determine why the system has set the Current Path to an unexpected
older file. The Health Check dialog on the Managed File Dashboard in the Web Client now provides additional detail to help understand how the Current Path was calculated and flag up any warnings where the calculation ran into errors. - Improvements to The Calculation Of The Current Path On Scheduled Save: In certain situations, the Current Path of a consolidated Managed File would get changed to a much older file. This is believed to happen when the existing Current Path is not available when the calculation is run. The behavior of the Current path calculation has now been changed to ensure that files which have a Created or Modified timestamp older than the most recent event for that file are not set as the Current Path.
- Structured Password No Longer Required for Processing Binary Format Files: The ESM Server enforced a requirement to provide the structure password if a file had its structure protected. This requirement was removed for non-binary formats (xlsx, xlsm, etc) in a previous version but retained for binary formats. This release removes this requirement for binary versions (xlsb, xls, etc). This helps with Discovery deep scans where risk checks will no longer fail if a binary file has a structure password.
